About the club
Set in Golden Bay, Pōhara Boat Club is at Port Tarakohe. As the only boat club in the bay, we bring together people who love being on the water, and we are run entirely by volunteers.
What we do
We offer sailing, fishing and social activities to everyone. Membership runs from July to June and includes Sunday Sailing through the season, after school clubs, holiday programmes, and Yachting New Zealand Learn to Sail courses.
Our boats
Our fleet includes Optimist dinghies, Open Skiffs, Sunbursts and a mix of other small boats.
Moorings
Members can use the club boat moorings at Taupo Point and Tata Island. The Mutton Cove mooring is currently out of action. [Committee to confirm: how members book or use a mooring]
Bar and restaurant
Our upstairs rooms have wonderful harbour views. Because of club licensing, only members can buy alcohol from the bar, but members can sign in a guest. [Committee to confirm: whether the bar and restaurant are open, and on which days and times]
Our committee for 2026 to 2027
Our committee is a team of hard working volunteers. Please get in touch if you would like to help out or talk about joining the committee.
